Family Events in Truckee
When you purchase your vacation home in Lake Tahoe, you will find many family events in Truckee. While the Tahoe area boasts many activities and recreation, below are a few venues that the entire family can enjoy. Click on any of the headings for more information.
Music in the Park
June 20 to August 29 from 6:30 to 8:30. In the Truckee Regional Park amphitheater, you can bring your lawn chair and picnic while listening to free music in a community gathering. The diversity of music throughout the summer includes, blues, jazz, rock and funk. Click here for music schedule.
Friday Fun Nights at Northstar
July to September from 5pm to 7pm. Every Friday, the Village at Northstar offers children mini-golf, face painting, balloon twisting, and roller skating. There are also special summer activities on the Overlook. Rink-side cabanas are the perfect place for parents to unwind with a margarita or craft cocktails and listen to live music on the Village stage.
Stargazing at Squaw Valley
Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer from 9pm to 10:30pm. The Resort at Squaw Creek offers an hour and a half exploration of the constellations and the history of reading stars. You can even learn about your astrological sign and its history.
Peddle and Paddle
Wednesdays and Saturdays 9:30am to 3pm. Starting at the Resort at Squaw Creek, bike along the scenic Truckee River bike trail to Lake Tahoe. The trail is relatively flat and pull behind trailers are available for small children. Once at Lake Tahoe, enjoy paddle boarding! This is a great way to see the area and get exercise!
Every Tuesday from May to October from 8am to 1pm. The Truckee River Regional Park comes alive each Tuesday morning throughout the summer and early fall. Farmers and artisans sell produce, vegetables, fruit, flowers, berries, melons, greens, tomatoes, prepared foods, crepes, baked goods, fish and meat, olive oil, and handmade artisan goods.
