North Tahoe Resort Communities

Gray's Crossing is located just outside downtown Truckee, and sits on a championship golf course with an amazing pool and fitness facility for its members. This thoughtfully planned community includes approximately 500 acres of open space and features over six miles of interconnected hiking and biking trails. There are only 377 homesites in the community, which will be mostly luxury vacation homes.

Schaffer’s Mill is located in the Martis Valley next to Lahontan and Martis Camp. It sits on 475 acres with 218 homesites and 188 town homes. This is a Johnny Miller/John Harbottle course. Families can enjoy the fitness center, pool and spend time aboard the Club yacht along with dining at the Lake Club. The Club is still in the process of constructing their fine dining restaurant. This resort community is gated and has a family focused feel to it.

Tahoe Donner offers endless amenities and easy access to highway 80. The neighborhood amenities include a driving range, golf, downhill and cross country ski areas, a sledding hill, an equestrian center, campground, beach access at Donner Lake, a restaurant, a deli, and excellent fitness facilities with pools, tennis, and playgrounds. This is a mixed-use community, including both full-time residences and vacation homes. There all sorts of options in this area, and it’s the largest of the Truckee neighborhoods.

Donner Lake is a beautiful alpine lake with four season recreational opportunities. The warm sunny months offer many opportunities, swimming from sandy beaches to fishing and boating. There are many public docks and a couple private beach clubs. The colder months offer close access to hiking trails and is near to many of the major Tahoe ski areas, like Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl and Northstar-at-Tahoe. The majority of the homes are older, but there are a few new and/or remodeled homes that are worth looking at if you like the area.

Lahontan is a luxury private gated community with fine facilities and service are unequalled: world class, Tom Weiskopf designed golf course, tennis, dining, club house, boat house, spa & fitness facility, and Camp Lahontan family recreation center. Many of the homes here are luxury vacation homes, but there are several permanent residents living there as well.

Martis Camp is a private luxury golf course community with 653 homesites on 2,177 private acres in Martis Valley. Real estate offerings include homesites that range from half-acre cabin sites to 2.5 acre estate sites, and luxury residences. The highlights of this community are their extensive family amenities, Tom Fazio golf course, ski access to Northstar-at-Tahoe, and large private lots for building your dream home.

Mountainside Northstar is an exceptional example of the changing face of Northstar Resort. Mountainside's elevated setting sets it apart from other Tahoe communities. With spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Martis Valley, homes and homesites offer rare, direct access to the ski slopes, miles of hiking and biking trails and the serene beauty of the mountains.

Northstar neighborhood is situated at the base of Northstar-at-Tahoe Ski Resort™. The Village at Northstar™ is directly at the base and offers incredible access to the ski resorts trails, with many activities like ice skating, dining and perusing a variety of shops. In addition to the world class skiing, there are many more Lake Tahoe activities at Northstar® Ski Resort, from the mountain bike park, golfing, equestrian center and winter activities like tubing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. In addition, Northstar is the home of the exciting new Ritz-Carlton™ Lake Tahoe. There is a mix of full-time residents and vacation homes, with the majority being vacation homes.

Old Greenwood is situated just outside the town of Truckee with a meandering trout steam, six lakes and a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. Amenities include a swim, tennis, fitness and spa facility; miles of trails for hiking and biking, trout fishing and an exceptional golf academy. There are only 99 homesites, 15 villas, and 77 fractional residences.

Pine Forest Pine Forest is only a minute drive to downtown Truckee and is nestled in a gorgeous pine forest setting. There are only 118 homesites and the homes that have been built to date are stunning, which is a testament to architectural standards in the area. Compared with other Truckee listings, lots here are a good value averaging .66 acres with most selling in the low to mid $300s. While there are no amenities, homeowner fees are low at just $45 per month.

Alpine Meadows – Located four miles north of Tahoe City, Alpine Meadows offers vacation and rental homes to those who are looking for that ski-town/village feel. There are miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. There is also easy access to I-80.

Squaw Valley - Located northwest of Tahoe City, Squaw Valley was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. The Village at Squaw has many shops and restaurants to explore and try. There are both rental and vacation homes available to those who are looking for that ski-town/village feel. The homes here vary in size and price. There is also easy access to I-80.

North/West Lake Tahoe Communities

Tahoe City – Is a lakefront community with its own town feel. Most homes here are older and many are rented to locals. There’s a mix of homes and duplexes that vary in quality. The main amenity here is Lake Tahoe.

Lake Forest – This community sits just east of Tahoe City. Homes are also mixed in this area with many older cabins and homes. There are a few homes near or on the lake, but there’s not much on the market.

Tahoe Vista – Another neighborhood of mixed older cabins and newer homes within walking distance of a public beach, marina and restaurants. It sits between Tahoe City and King's Beach.

Kings Beach-Brockway - Kings Beach is another neighborhood with a mix of older homes and renovated homes. King’s Beach is predominately permanent residences or long-term rental. The exception to this is the Brockway Springs Estates, which is a gated lakefront community of 20 home sites on 20 acres. The estates include a variety of club amenities. Luxury homes in this section can range from 3 million to 8 million.
